New Cemetery Consultation

PUBLIC CONSULTATION

PROVISION OF A NEW CEMETERY ON STATION ROAD

This initial consultation on the development of a new cemetery in Waltham will run from Tuesday 13th August to Tuesday 3rd September 2024

Below are details about the proposal and how you can get involved and have your say. We want to hear your views to help us shape the plans.

WHY DO WE NEED A NEW CEMETERY?

Cemeteries are very important places for local people. The Ings Lane cemetery cannot be extended and new grave space will begin to run out in this cemetery within the next 3 years.

We need to build a new cemetery to ensure there we provide new spaces for people to bury their loved ones in the future.

WHY STATION ROAD?

The Council already owns the land next to the allotments on Station Road, so we would not have to purchase new land. No other suitable land has become available to purchase, and the cemetery at Ings Lane cannot be extended.
