Waltham Parish Council Secures Funding for New Speed Sign on Cheapside

Waltham Parish Council is pleased to announce that it has been successful in securing funding from the Humberside Police and Crime Commissioner SIDS Scheme for a new speed sign to be installed on Cheapside. 

The funding, obtained through a successful bid, will allow for the installation of a solar-powered Speed Indicator Device (SID), designed to encourage drivers to adhere to speed limits and drive safely through our village. Cheapside has been identified as a key area where speed reduction measures are necessary, following concerns raised by local residents about excessive speeding and road safety risks.

The new speed sign will not only display real-time vehicle speeds but will also collect data to help the Parish Council and local authorities monitor traffic patterns and assess any further road safety measures that may be required.

Work on installing the sign is expected to commence in the Spring, with updates to be provided as the project progresses.
